Bayliss Boatworks construction update: Bayliss 72' Old Reliable
by Bayliss Boatworks 5 Sep 2020 17:52 UTC
The bow deck on Old Reliable (Bayliss 72') really took shape over the course of the last month. Once planking was completed, the bow deck was glassed, coated in ad tech, and faired. Toe rail fabrication is nearly complete, and after the toe rail is installed, the bow deck will move into primer.
Last month, the Exterior Carpentry Crew fabricated the lazarette deck and began framing the cockpit deck. Cockpit deck chase work is now under way in preparation for the installation of the cockpit deck which will take place in early September. Once all lazarette components are in place, the lazarette deck will also be installed.
Meanwhile, mezzanine compartment metal liners are being fabricated by our Metalworks Crew to prepare for the next steps on the cockpit.
The cockpit bulkhead was installed in August, after which our Paint and Fair Crew glassed the salon. Once the day head and pantry walls were added, the salon and galley walls were coated in primer to match the lower levels.
Cabinetry mock-up continues within the lower accommodations. As the Interior Carpentry Crew builds out and removes each piece for fabrication in our cabinetry shop, the Mechanical Crew runs freshwater and plumbing lines behind each piece. In early September, these cabinetry mock-ups will begin in the galley.
