Willys Pub Race 2001 at Humber Mouth Yacht Club

by Ian Clegg 17 Jun 2001 10:19 UTC

34 competitors gathered at a rather wet Humber Mouth Yacht Club on 16th June for the annual Willy's Pub persuit race. With no wind at all in the morning the race officer began to consider a postponement. As the start time of 1230 approached however, the wind filled in nicely and the first boats where away on schedule.

The race was split into three classes, fast handicap, slow handicap and multi hull, each with a separate course. The rain finally stopped as the first boats reached the finish and headed for a well earned pint courtesy of the race sponsor Willy's Pub. There followed an excellent social at the club including a Barbecue and live band.
