As January blues, winter and frostbite racing properly kicks in around the country (with sub-zero temperatures), it is always good to have something to look forward to.

That is RS Sailing. If you have a boat, great-see you on water. If not, no problem as there boats at almost all clubs so just ask to get a go. And if you want to get your own, then there are competitive second hand boats available to go racing. All at a fraction of the price of new or other similar classes!

Hence, blot your diaries, make your plans, get your weekend passes approved with your better halves as the the 2024 Irish RS calendar is here:

  • May 4th/5th: RS200/400 Northerns EABC - a new venue in Larne who the commodore expressed special excitement about having us - camping and great hospitality guaranteed.

  • June 8th: RS200/400 Easterns/Sprint GSC 1 Day Sprint to make possible for those doing exams Greystones SC - ideal way to hone in your starting before many Irish boats head to France for Eurocup 21-24 June

  • July 6/7th: RS FEST/Inlands LDYC - RS Fest follows on from success of last year to incorporate all RS Feva/200/400/Aeros. Lough Derg know how to host big events so bumper evenings session guaranteed. Camping also an option at the venue.

  • August 9-11th: RS200/400 Irish National Championships CSC - The Paris Olympics will have be over, this is the next hottest event! Carrickfergus SC is another club very excited to hold us for this event. Great clubhouse that is spectator friendly overlooking the sailing area, plenty space and a good slipway. Holiday Inn and other options nearby, even a McDonald's walking distance.:P

  • September 20/21st: RS 200/400 Southerns KSC - Killaloe SC host the final event of year. They always put on a great event with camping, BBQ, good sailing and we enjoy going there for end of season.
With 3 brand new boats entering Irish shores end of 2023 and rumoured more to join an already established fleet of 25+ RS200s and 40+ RS400s in the country, JOIN THE FUN!

Reach out, try it. Crew or Helm for someone, meet the fleet and you won't regret it. For questions contact a RS committee member or local RS dealer Kenny Rumball ROI/Robert Hastings NI for information.
