A full programme of Hobie Cat racing awaits crews in the 32nd Channel Islands Championships - sponsored by estate agent Savills for a fifth year.

Hosted and organised by the Royal Channel Islands Yacht Club (RCIYC), around 25 to 30 boats are expected at St Aubin's Bay over the weekend of 10 and 11 June.

Three qualifying races are planned for each day of competition, with entries from across the Channel Islands and the UK.

All levels of expertise will be represented - including junior crews on Hobie Dragoons, youth and adult teams racing 'A' and 'B' fleets in the Hobie 16s Open Class and Hobie 18 Wildcats.

Kevin Newman, Commodore of the RCIYC, said: "The Hobie Cat Championships is one of the main events in our calendar and we are delighted to once again be partnering with Savills. We are very grateful for their ongoing sponsorship, wonderful support and enthusiasm.

"As always it promises to be a wonderful spectacle and this year will be even more exciting -providing a great opportunity for our junior, youth and adult teams who are training and preparing for the Hobie Dragoon Worlds and Hobie 16 Europeans being held in Italy in July."

Geri O'Brien, head of residential sales at Savills Jersey added: "Sailing is a favourite pastime of many islanders - and we are delighted to once again support this wonderful event which brings together so many people of all ages.

"Given good conditions the racing promises to be fast and exciting, the bright sails providing a mass of colour as the boats skim over the water. Huge credit must go to the RCIYC for staging such a fantastic two days."

Racing starts at 11am on both Saturday and Sunday, with registration and weigh-in for crews taking place at the RCIYC on Thursday, 8 June from 6pm to 7.30pm. The prize-giving presentation is at the club from 7pm on the Sunday evening.
