Behind the scenes of the new Amasea 84 design

Following on from a market presentation in Monaco last March introducing the brand, Amasea Yachts has released further design details about its first 25-metre power catamaran, the Amasea 84.
Difference-maker
Importantly, the Amasea project is distinguished from other catamarans in its class in that it will be built of marine grade 5083 aluminium instead of fibreglass and laid out over three decks instead of two.
This is because it is designed to provide a robust, seaworthy, ocean-going platform for true lovers of the sea who want to explore the world in comfort and safety even in rough weather.
"CFD studies show that compared to a monohull the catamaran configuration offers better hull efficiency and in-built stabilisation," says Jack Wijnants, who set up Amasea Yachts in 2018 when he couldn't find a production catamaran designed for world cruising. "Another advantage is that with a beam of nearly 11 metres it provides much more interior and exterior volume."
With exterior design and naval architecture by Dr Albert Nazarov, a specialist in high-speed catamarans, the Amasea 84 is designed for family use and long-distance passagemaking without re-fuelling and with sufficient dry and cold storage to remain at sea for up to 6 weeks without re-provisioning.
"Having three decks instead of two introduces much more flexibility in terms of layout," says Dr Nazarov. "The master suite, for example, can be on the main or upper deck and the yacht is designed with two galleys: one for guest use and a smaller one for the crew."
Space and functionality
The layout allows for outstanding flexibility. The standard layout provides for a large salon/dining room on main deck of 63 sqm, big enough to fit a lounge and dining area, and two forward cabins of 16.7 sqm each. The guest galley on the same deck level is nearly 16 sqm. Alternatively, clients can choose to have a single large master suite forward. The bridge deck can accommodate two VIP cabins of 20.5 sqm and 17.5 sqm behind the bridge, or the upper deck can be used to house the master suite.
"The interior design is entirely up to the client," says Jack Wijnants. "We are free to engage a designer of his or her choice. The renders that we created are only indications of what the interior could look like and they are truly impressive."
Amasea can also customize other features such as the windows to make them larger or lower bulwarks. The only thing that is fixed is the 3-deck configuration and the exterior styling.
The crew accommodation is located inside the two hulls on the lower deck, along with the two engine compartments, laundry and twin garages for the tender and toys. The forward space in the hulls can be used for additional guest accommodation.
In addition to the generous outside areas on the main and bridge aft, there is also a sundeck with exterior pilot station and enormous lounging area on the main deck forward.
Construction
Jack Wijnants is planning to start building the first Amasea 84 at Amasea Yachts' own shipyard in Turkey before the end of the year with delivery scheduled in 2021. The first will take around 20 months to build, but subsequent hulls between 12-16 months. The finishing will take place in the Netherlands to Dutch Quality Yachts standard.

The estimated base price of the Amasea 84 is 6.5 million euro.

Brand story
Founded in 2018, Amasea Yachts is a completely new company based in Monaco. The story behind that name is quite simple, yet romantic. Amasea is derived from two words: "amare" (to love in Italian) and "sea". This gives a general idea of the company and its market vision. Amasea Yachts will be producing proven and robust, oceangoing and custom-made boats for owners who are deeply in love with the sea. These contemporary yachts can voyage regardless of distance or rough weather to explore the world in maximum privacy and comfort.
Range and design
For the moment, the Amasea range consists of one model: the Amasea 84'/25m unveiled in early 2019. Production will be limited, offer a high level of customisation (clients are encouraged to choose their own interior designer) and use top quality materials for the construction and outfitting. The company has plans to expand the range. Future models up to 40 meters in length are to be announced in the near future.
Founder
Jack Wijnants is the founder and owner of Amasea Yachts. "The whole story started with our own requirements, which couldn't be met by the composite builders," explains the experienced yachtsman and boat builder whose family has always owned Dutch-built steel yachts. Originally from Belgium, Jack has lived in Monaco for more than ten years. Ten years ago, Wijnants started MSAR, a company in Malta that builds patrol, rescue and multi-purpose boats, which he owns now.
Naval architect
Dr. Albert Nazarov is responsible for Amasea Yachts' innovative naval architecture. He graduated in 1996 with a degree in Naval Architecture from the Faculty of Marine Technology and Shipping at the Sevastopol National Technical University. In 1999, he was a finalist in an international yacht design competition in the United Kingdom, and soon after he started his own boat design business. A boating enthusiast with wide experience in sailing and power boating, he has a Yacht Captain License and IYT Bareboat Skipper certificate.
