ThrowRaft awarded 2018 Innovation Award at Miami International Boat Show

by Scott Mitchell 21 Feb 2018 14:47 UTC

ThrowRaft LLC is an official recipient of a Miami International Boat Show Innovation Award, awarded by the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) and Boating Writers International (BWI). One of the industry's most prestigious honours, the awards recognize exceptionally groundbreaking new consumer marine products and are judged by a panel of experts in product testing for the marine industry. From a field of 62 products, ThrowRaft took top honours in the Consumer Safety Equipment category for its Search & Rescue Yellow TD2401, the world's first U.S. Coast Guard Approved inflatable throwable personal flotation device designed specifically for First Responders.

"It's an honour to receive this award," said Troy Faletra, owner & operator of ThrowRaft and inventor of the TD2401, the first progression with U.S. Coast Guard approved throwable devices in over 50 years. "I'm energized by this recognition and the momentum ThrowRaft is gaining amongst first responders and consumers. I'm putting a lot of energy into creating new innovative, consumer-friendly flotation devices."

The Search & Rescue Yellow TD2401's patented design can be inflated manually with the pull tab or automatically by submerging it underwater. It is easily repacked and recharged using a 24-gram CO2 cartridge that comes standard with the product. It can also be self-inspected and features SOLAS reflective tape for high visibility. 9x smaller than the ring buoy and 5x smaller than the square cushion, it legally replaces throwable devices aboard all recreational vessels. Its light weight and compact size allows it to be thrown more than 40 feet in the packed position or fully inflated. It can also be carried by drones or thrown from rescue vehicles during emergency situations.
