by Blind Sailing 30 May 2013 08:05 UTC 25 May - 1 June 2013

Team GBR put in a solid day in strong winds and heavy waves

The promised increased winds arrived for the competitors for the day's four races, seeing the breeze pick up to 14-16 knots and a more challenging sea state.

The livelier conditions were to Team GBR's liking with some impressive performances and all the boats improving on there respective fleet positions.

The star of the day, by any measure, was Lucy Hodges in the B2 fleet posting four firsts and standing 13 points clear of second placed New Zealand with Japan A a further 3 points behind after 11 races. With four races remaining and the second discard due, Lucy's team are in a very strong position.

The B1 team lead by Sharon Grennan are in similar favourable position with a 12 point lead over second place Japan B and Massachusetts a further 3 points behind the host country.

Liam Cattermole's B3 boat gained their first win of the regatta in the third race of the day, following up with another impressive win in race four. They now lie 9.8 points behind New Zealand in second place and have a margin of 12.2 over Japan A.

The team are showing that the training and hard work they have put in has paid off and all teams are building and growing each day. Through this hard work the GBR team are in a great position for the Squadron Cup; GBR lead followed by New Zealand on 20.2 points behind and Japan A 28 points behind.
