Nanny Cay is the spectacular venue and host for the BVI Spring Regatta & Sailing Festival, and this year's Spring Regatta participants will enjoy some of the new renovations completed both on the hotel facility and the marina.

With entries now over 70, and 90+ boats anticipated, preparations at Nanny Cay are moving at top speed for the 48th edition of this favorite Caribbean sailing event.

Phase 1 of the Inner Marina has been completed with four docks up and running. Work on an additional four docks continues. Docks have been renamed into a more logical sequence so returning after cocktails at the Regatta Village should make finding one's boat an easier task! The new Outer Marina is complete with 100 slips and now has a Sol fuel dock which serves diesel, gas, ice and water, offering improved efficiency with two fuel docks available between the two marinas.

Always the focal point, the Regatta Village will be located adjacent to the Outer marina and will feature a new Seaside Bar which will be serving drinks as soon as guests arrive on registration day.

The Village will also host the event's first Eco-Lounge, an area dedicated to education and leisure. The lounge will be decorated with furniture fabricated from recycled plastic in the BVI by VI Plastics. Friends and guests will be able to relax in the lounge and watch the racing. Information will be posted to educate visitors how to limit their environmental impact while in the islands and youth sailing dinghies will be strategically placed as collection points for any plastic bottles used by regatta participants to make recycling easier and more convenient. The Regatta Village will also feature a wide array of eating concessions offering delicious local food and a huge bar with plenty to quench all thirsts.

At the Nanny Cay Resort, a small number of hotel rooms have been completely refurbished featuring updated décor, new furniture and polished concrete floors and are available for booking on a limited basis. Top floor rooms are being reconfigured with more space and better interior layout, while solar water heating and new energy efficient air-condition systems are also being installed. Watch out for a new look at the infamous Peg Legs restaurant - it's been transformed to a beach side tented area while construction is under way rebuilding the new establishment.

"We're excited with the renovated facilities at Nanny Cay - they will only add to the ambience as well as be a great support for our guests. It's going to be a great time and we're excited to see old friends back and bring newcomers into the mix," Judy Petz, Regatta Director, said.

This year's regatta runs March 25 to March 31 and welcomes the traditional Round Tortola Race for the Nanny Cay Cup, followed by Scrub Island Invitational on day two of racing in the Sailing Festival. Three great days of racing follow for the 48th BVI Spring Regatta.

Sailors from USA, Germany, BVI, USVI, Netherlands, UK, Puerto Rico, Canada, Antigua, Belgium, Barbados, and Russia know just how good the conditions will be - what's not to like about trade winds, blue skies, stunningly clear and clean turquoise water and temperatures in the high 20s? That's why so many BVI sailors return year after year!
