With their enclosed flybridge, Ocean Eco 60 Explorer and Ocean Eco 90 Explorer are solar-assisted electric long-range cruisers with the added feature of an extra space on the upper deck.

They are perfect for boaters who love to cruise and explore in any season, in space and comfort, and totally green. "The first 60 Explorer will be used for green Arctic cruises in Norway."

  • Integrated solar panels and battery packs for emission-free electric cruising
  • Optional hydrogen generator for fossil-free, 100% clean operation
  • Enclosed flybridge to increase the living space in any condition
  • Maximum comfort and understated luxury all over the large interiors
  • The Company Arctic Cruise in Norway has already chosen the 60 EX for 365-day cruising with their clients in the Arctic area

Alva Yachts, the German designer and manufacturer of electric floating solutions, has just revealed two new additions to their fleet of electric yachts and floating villas.

The new electric catamarans are named Ocean Eco 60 Explorer and Ocean Eco 90 Explorer, and both feature an enclosed upper deck which drastically increase the space on board, as it creates a climate-controlled and protected area which can be enjoyed throughout the year, even in cold conditions and bad weather.

Alva Yachts Ocean Eco 60 EX

The layout of Ocean Eco 60 EX features large spaces, flooded in light thanks to the glazing and the light hues of the interiors.

The main deck has two wide cockpits outside, one to aft and one in the foredeck. Inside, the large saloon features the galley on the port side, completed by a separate island with bar and stools. In the center there's the dining table for eight, while to starboard a couch complete the layout. The front part is taken by the large L-shaped sofa and freestanding tea table and armchair. A TV pops up from a center cabinet and behind its a round staircase takes to the flybridge, while two side companionways lead to the lower decks.

This can be chosen in two different layouts, one sporting three staterooms, with the owner's one taking the whole starboard hull, and one for a charter use, with four cabins. The crew can be accommodated in two or three cabins, for a total of four members in three cabins.

The flybridge can be reached by the mentioned, rounded staircase or by a second one, outside, which connects the cockpit to the upper balcony and the side decks.

Inside, the space is taken by a comfortable double cabin with exceptional view, and by the helm station to fore.

The technical part is shared with the traditional Ocean Eco 60 and features two electric motors and a large battery pack. The batteries are powered by solar panels and by an auxiliary generator, which can be replaced by a hydrogen fuel cell for a completely emission-free yacht. In any case, the battery packs grant enough range for exploring recessed and protected areas without emitting any noise and exhausts. The EX-Versions can also be operated with Hydrogen Cells instead of a fuel generator.

Alva Yachts Ocean Eco 90 EX

Ocean Eco 90 Explorer declines the same concept of the 60 EX on a 27.50-meter yacht, with an impressive beam of 14 meters. The elegant and contemporary lines, like on Ocean Eco 60 EX, are specifically designed for electric propulsion, so the space for solar panels is maximized.

In this case the lower deck houses four cabins for the guests, three for the crew (five members) and a crew mess/galley, with access granted by two companionways per side.

The center cabin of each hull sports a fold-down balcony, for beautiful moments of relax and sunbathing just above the sea surface.

The main level features a wet bar with stools, dining for ten, and couches and armchairs for lounging. The center stairway with two flights of steps take to the upper level, reachable also by a staircase outside. The terrace on three sides has a private area for the owner, with sun beds and a jacuzzi. Inside, the master stateroom enjoys the beautiful view on three sides and sports, among the rest, an office corner, a reading armchair and a large bathroom with separated countertop for two sinks and a second jacuzzi.

The propulsion system is fully electric thanks to a battery pack (up to 360 Kwh) and two electric motors. The traditional generators can be replaced by hydrogen fuel cells making Ocean Eco 90 EX a fully emission-free yacht.

There are many competitive advantages of Ocean Eco 60 and 90 Explorer, when compared to other yachts. The most evident ones are the huge livable space, the versatility of the interiors, the safety of navigation, and the emission free navigation. For all these reasons, the company Arctic Cruise in Norway, in Tromsø, specialized in offering high quality boat trips and Fjord cruises, has already chosen to have an Ocean Eco 60 Explorer in their fleet, and is considering the addition of a further Ocean Eco 90 EX. For them, it is the best choice to give their customers the chance to cruise all year long across the northern seas and fjords, and live beautiful experiences such as midnight sun or aurora borealis, while navigating in silence and respecting that unique environment.
