Bayliss Boatworks construction update: Bayliss 72' Old Reliable
by Bayliss Boatworks 4 Oct 2020 15:48 UTC
On Old Reliable, the most striking change you'll notice is the bow deck. In September, the toe rail was installed before the entire deck was coated in primer.
Color sanding on the hull sides and cabin is now under way in preparation for the next part of the boat's transition into final primer.
Old Reliable's second transformation over the course of the last month occurred in the cockpit. Our Exterior Carpentry Crew framed, insulated, and planked the cockpit deck before turning their attention to the lazarette and engine room companionway. Once these spaces were developed, they transitioned through fairing and into final primer. The lazarette deck was installed at the month's end, finalizing the space for work to begin on mezzanine development.
Within Old Reliable's interior, each room in the lower level is coming to life as our Interior Carpentry Crew builds-out bunks, vanities and nightstands each day. Our Mechanical Crew has plumbed the sink and shower drains, and installed fans in each of the three heads.
In late September, the Interior Carpentry Crew began their work in the galley with mock-up of the dinette and galley cabinetry. Careful thought and planning goes into mocking up each space, to ensure that the owner is satisfied with the layout well before fabrication begins.
