Conferences and Events

The Genoa International Boat Show has always represented a key moment to reflect on the sector's current core values and main challenges, featuring institutional conferences, technical seminars, and expert panels within a varied programme brimming with events organised by the Italian Marine Industry Association.

Thursday 1st October, the inaugural day of the Genoa Boat Show, dedicated to the Opening Conference entitled 60 years of Yachting: a bridge to the future scheduled to take place at 11:00am on the Terrace of the Blue Pavilion.

Afterwards, the Teatro del Mare will host an event entitled "Colore, bellezza e innovazione. La rotta dell'eccellenza da Genova a Dubai", a moment to discuss the latest developments with regards to an extraordinary adventure that will see Italy and its territories take centre stage at the Dubai Expo2020. Indeed, it is in the Ligurian capital itself that a technical partner of the Committee for Italy's participation in the Expo was founded: the Boero Group, who will colour the largest Italian flag in the country's history along with a section of the Pavilion. The event is part of the "One Year to Go" initiatives promoted across the bel paese exactly one year before the inauguration, in order to raise awareness of the Universal Expo as a unique opportunity for our country to relaunch its cultural, economic, scientific and tourist attractiveness on the global stage.

At 6:00pm an evening talk will take place entitled "L'Alfabeto del Futuro", a tale of the group's papers and sites, held by La Stampa/ Il Secolo XIX as a tour, of which Genoa is one of the cities taking part via the Genoa Boat Show: a journey through a variety of cities and discussion points, the common denominator of which is innovation. On Friday 2nd October at 11:00am in the FORUM Hall, the much-awaited Boating Economic Forecast will be announced, providing a summary of the market trends contained in the traditional industry analysis "La Nautica in Cifre"- Boating in FIgures, an annual publication created by the Italian Marine Industry Association's Market Analysis Department in partnership with Fondazione Edison and Assilea - the Italian Leasing Association. On that same day, the FORUM Hall will also see the 7th Conference on Coastal Tourism, organised by Federturismo - the Italian Tourism Federation. On Monday 5th October, the yearly Yachting and Tax conference will be back at 2:30pm, dedicated to taking stock of the situation in terms of tax, customs, and the industry as a whole.

Thursday 1st October will see start of the Genoa - Trieste Regatta, taking place via the online portal virtualregatta.com, which will virtually unite the 60th edition of the Genoa Boat Show with the 52nd edition of the Barcolana, two key events that have worked together for years to promote awareness and protection with regards to the sea.

The six days of events will also include themed workshops, technical seminars, sports events and award ceremonies, including, on Sunday 4th October on the Blue Pavilion Terrace, the prize-giving ceremony for the Millevele Regatta held by the Italian Yacht Club, in partnership with Italy's Marine Industry Association, which will take place on Saturday 3rd October.

Over the weekend, on Saturday 3rd October and Sunday 4th October, the Italian Sailing Federation will take centre stage with a full programme of events at the Breitling Theatre, including the award ceremony for Federal Sailing Schools, the presentation of the 151 Miglia regattas, the NARC, and the Torri Saracene regatta, the presentation of an E-learning project developed in partnership with La Sapienza University and a special event entitled "Rediscovering the Compass: the Success of Sailing and Sailing Schools in the Summer of 2020."

The 60th Genoa International Boat Show will also be the stage for the first official "starting point" for the Genova: The Grand Finale initiative, which will see Genoa as the finishing line and final city of the round-the-world regatta, The Ocean Race 2022-23, which will be presented to companies, press and a world audience through a number of events throughout the week. In honour of the occasion, the Boat Show staff will be joined by local authorities, international agency GroupM and governing bodies of The Ocean Race, with the participation of CEO Richard Brisius, to announce the latest developments with regards to the next three years.

Design Innovation Award

The "Design Innovation Award" is a new prize, exclusively for exhibitors, created to celebrate the 60th Genoa International Boat Show and held by the Italian Marine Industry Association and I Saloni Nautici, in partnership with the Italian Trade Agency, aimed at supporting and promoting excellence in the Yachting industry and award the level of innovation demonstrated by exhibitors taking part in the Genoa Boat Show through their most recent products.
