GOST® (Global Ocean Security Technologies), a world leader in marine security, tracking, monitoring and video surveillance systems, announced today that its GOST NT-Evolution 2.0 security and global tracking system was instrumental in thwarting an attempted electronics theft in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. This is the second attempted theft on this specific vessel.

Just after 1:00 a.m. on September 8th, the GOST NT-Evolution 2.0's sensors, installed on the Everglades 435, tripped, triggering the system's siren, strobe and flashing tower and hardtop lights. The thieves, who were only targeting the multifunction glass displays, were unfazed on security footage and moved away from the vessel to remove electronics from several other boats nearby. The owner of the boat was notified via automated call, text and email.

"In December 2018 I had all of the multifunction displays stolen off my boat because it was at a yard getting work done and my GOST security system had been disarmed," said Kenny McLeskey, owner. "Since then, I never leave it anywhere without arming my system. Doing so made a huge difference last week, as my alarm went off and scared the bad guys off the boat with the siren and strobe. Unfortunately, five other boats at the marina and several more at the neighboring marina had no defense and the thieves made off with tens of thousands worth of electronics."

"It's unfortunate that electronics theft is becoming more and more common," said Brian Kane, chief technology officer, GOST. "After all the time and money put into your boat, who can put a price on the peace of mind that comes from knowing your investment is protected? Our GOST systems are designed to prevent the event, and in this case, for at least one owner, it did."
