National Boating Week - an initiative from the BIA of Australia

This week we begin with an interview between Sail-World's Managing Editor, Mark Jardine and Boating Industry Association President, Darren Vaux.

As the marine industry deals with the postponement of a number of major boat shows this year, the Boating Industry have announced the introduction of National Boating Week. Darren Vaux discusses the part the BIA are playing in their endeavours to maintain boating interest within the market place during difficult times.

Meanwhile the Marina Industry Association is managing their courses using the internet. The Australian MIA has converted their face to face Club Marine Emergency Preparedness Course to also be available online. With enhanced downloadable reference documents, this course will include a combination of Part A - self-paced learning and Part B - online live session with industry veteran Phil McGowen CMM. The next part B live session will be on 15 Sept 2020. Participation in this online course should be part of any marina's risk mitigation strategy. Sign up for the course here.

Beneteau, one of the largest builders of power boats and yachts, have announced that their new models of the 2021 season that will be presented through a series of private events. Unveiled to the press on August 31st and September 1st, 2020, the 18 new models of this season carry the promise of unique nautical experiences. "We want to make this crisis an opportunity to rethink our customer relationship and experience, traditionally displayed at boat shows. Since May, we have developed digital tools so you can discover our boats online, take an online detailed presentation on board, or have a live chat with our boat specialists. Our brands are also organizing a series of private events for this fall to welcome customers and prospects in the best and safest possible way," explained Gianguido Girotti, Deputy General Manager, in charge of brand and product strategy.

More news from the electric-power segment of the industry comes from Danish builder Rand. The pioneering producer of sustainable motorboats, RAND Boats, has just launched its newest addition to their fleet of innovative and functionalistic models. Mana 23 is a new concept of motorboats, raising the bar for efficiency, sustainability and social space on water and marks the arrival of a new generation of motorboats providing fast displacement cruising up to 15 knots.
