BCool: How does cruising the sea as though you were an astronaut sound?

If we've conjured up images of floating around on a yacht in a gravity-free limbo, we hasten to assure you that this is not what you should expect, however, our news is still pretty frontier-breaking.

We are talking about a system, used in space missions, that continually renews the air on board and keeps it purified by means of a highly efficient and safe sanitisation process that works on air conditioning ducts, surfaces and various technical elements such as fan coils and the like.

Named MMVS (Marine Mechanical Ventilation System), it was developed by BCool Engineering, an Italian company specialising in onboard thermal comfort and energy, and is based on NASA-patented technology.

As with many advanced technology patents, it imitates nature's processes. Essentially, this system combines rays from a high-intensity UV light with a catalysing structure to introduce purified air into the atmosphere. In just one hour all the air in an environment is replaced, reproducing the effect of leaving all the windows open, yet without forsaking the benefits of an air conditioning system.

At Azimut Yachts, we are extremely proud to pioneer this groundbreaking technology, introducing it to upcoming new models, starting with the Magellano 25 Metri. The safety and wellbeing of our yacht owners is at the forefront of all we do and we know just how important it is to address pollution and ensure that the interiors of a boat offer a safe, clean environment.

So, now that you no longer need to worry that we plan to have you walking on air, let us bring you further down to earth with a final pragmatic detail. Not only does MMVS create a healthier, more natural onboard environment, it has no impact on a boat's power and fuel consumption. Choosing this solution is a very simple decision. In fact, some might say it's not rocket science!
