Representatives from the water and environment team at BMT are providing the marina industry with an hour webinar regarding the application of risk management processes to assist the industry and marina operators to identify future trends and develop practical solutions to complex environmental, health and climate issues.

This interactive session aims to engage with representatives from varying scales of marina operations to review key trends and long term issues of the marina industry and demonstrate the application of risk management fundamentals via a case study approach to effectively consider, plan and manage uncertainty.

Speakers

Jeremy Visser - Senior Environmental Consultant

Jeremy is an environmental consultant with the BMT ecology and environmental management team. In this role, Jeremy provides advice to development proponents and managers of resources in environmental assessment, management, approvals and policy. His speciality includes interpretation and application of regulatory frameworks, performance standards and guidelines to the management of projects and resources, primarily through EIA, EMPs, strategic assessments, approvals, auditing, due diligence and risk assessment.

Geoff Withycombe - Senior Principal - Environment

Geoff is a senior principal with over 23 years experience in business management, development and implementation of environmental, climate and strategic policy and practice. He has worked extensively with local and state governments providing advice, policy development and decision making support. He has developed and led numerous award winning research and applied projects related to all facets of coastal management and climate change adaptation; and has worked with a diverse range of local, state, national and international government, research and private sector partners.

  • Setting the Context - key trends and long term issues for the marina industry
  • Why a Risk management process to effectively deal with uncertainty
  • Case study examples -worked examples utilising the 5 step risk management framework
  • Discussion and conclusions
Colin Bransgrove MIA CEO - will also provide an introductory overview of key trends and long term issues for the marina industry related to environment, health and climate.

Attendees will be asked to list their top three challenges/ uncertainties for the future of the marina industry related to the environment, public health and climate issues as part of the registration form.
