Cabin fever therapy: Nick Moloney's Vendee Globe

by Nick Maloney 20 Apr 2020 08:19 UTC
Nick Moloney circles the world alone and non-stop aboard an IMOCA60 © Nick Moloney

Nick Moloney was the first person to compete in offshore yachting's three greatest challenges; the Vendee Globe, the Whitbread/Volvo Ocean Race, and the Jules Verne Trophy. Share his experiences aboard his IMOCA 60 as he sailed around the world, non-stop.

Nick's journey alone against the elements in one of sport's toughest challenges will hopefully provide some entertainment and perspective for those of us suffering a case of cabin fever during the current global health situation. Being alone on a yacht for months at a time, thousands of miles from help, is as much a test of seamanship as it is mental strength and a true lesson in the meaning of the word 'isolation.'
