Samantha Murray appointed to California Fish and Game Commission

Gavin Newsom has acted quickly to fill the vacancy created on California's Fish and Game Commission brought about when he tapped Anthony Williams as his new legislative secretary.
In selecting Samantha Murray to fill those shoes, Newsom has chosen wisely. Her broad background and open personality should fit well dealing with diverse interests that come before the Commission. Samantha's professional resume runs from working for the Multnomah County DA's office to aiding tribal interests on the Columbia Inter-Tribal Fish Commission to directing marine and avian conservation organizations to leading advanced studies at Scripps Institution of Oceanography.
I've had the chance to work with her over the past years and am happy to relay that she listens to and is open to new ideas. Expect her to be open and straight forward: Samantha walks the way she talks. Perhaps most important to many of us in the outdoors community, Samantha is a recreational angler (and crabber). She likes to fish. Her direct contact with the the great outdoors will provide excellent background for the important decisions that come before the Commission. Here's wishing her the best in her now role as Fish and Game Commissioner.
