Most boats have pads, cushions, seats and other soft vinyl surfaces installed throughout the boat. These products require specialized cleaning, as boat soap and scrubbing may not be as effective. Drinks, mold, and blood will stain this material if given the chance.

Heavy cleaners that are typically used on tough stains, like bleach and acids, are not an option for these soft goods. Those chemicals will destroy the stitching and fabric, which you definitely don't want to do! Fortunately, Shurhold offers a few safe and bleach free solutions to keep your boat looking it's best.

What you need:

  • Mold-Away
  • Serious Marine Cleaner
  • Serious Shine
  • Stiff handheld brush
  • Microfiber cloths
How you do it:
  • Start by spraying Serious Shine on the vinyl and working it in with a clean microfiber cloth. This cleans gently and will hopefully be enough to take care of your spots. Wipe up the excess. If stains persist, a stronger cleaner will be needed
  • If the stains are from blood, dirt, or drinks try Serious Marine Cleaner and a Medium Brush. This should remove most, if not all stains. Wipe dry with a clean microfiber
  • If the spots are determined to be mold, mix up our Moldaway and scrub with the stiff brush. Be sure to remove all of the mold, leftover spores will bloom quickly. Wipe dry with a microfiber cloth. This a safe alternative to bleach.
  • No matter what steps you used to get the vinyl clean again, finish and protect by wiping down with Serious Shine. This will protect the material from future stains while leaving them looking bright and fresh.
There you have it! Another Clean-N-Simple Tip from Shurhold Industries. Until next time, we're here to keep your boat, truck, car, or RV looking its best!
