Operating a boat isn't difficult, but to do so safely and with confidence takes a modicum of knowledge. With Quick Reference Cards from Davis Instruments, it's easy to learn everything from the basics to a specialized field of seamanship. It's accurate information at a glance and quicker than an Internet search.

Davis offers six double-sided, full-color Quick Reference Cards. Each is loaded with information that's been distilled-down into graphic summaries and easy-to-read text. Designed in close cooperation with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and U.S. Power Squadrons, they're complete, precise and up to date.

Quick Reference Cards are made from thick, durable plastic and are completely waterproof for use in all weather. 22cm W x 28cm L and three-hole punched, they fit a standard three-ring binder.

Ideal for the beginner or seasoned veteran, the Boating Guide #128 is chock-full of procedures and equipment. It covers small craft piloting and vital skills such as the pre-departure checklist, fueling and engines, radio use, buoys, right-of-way, weather, knots, emergencies, anchoring and more.

Navigation Rules #125 features the U.S. Buoyage System, inland and coastal rules, right-of-way, lights, sound signals and bridge signals. International Nav Rules #127 is a comprehensive guide incorporating the International Maritime Buoyage System and COLREGS. It explains the differences between Cardinal and Lateral buoy systems to help make entering unfamiliar waters and busy harbors safer.

Coastwise Piloting #126 contains the crucial information needed to find one's way when on the water. It teaches dead reckoning basics, using a compass, how to use a chart and much more.

Celestial Navigation #132 simplifies the use of a sextant. It explains correction tables, and has step-by-step sight reduction and plotting procedures, and an 18-star finder.

Weather Forecasting #131 has information every boater needs. It details how to use wind direction, barometric pressure and cloud type to predict the weather. It includes official weather radio listings, how to navigate in fog and what all those weather symbols mean and why they're important to know.
