Dangerous conditions Friday 5 April and weekend

Why

An inland and a coastal trough are building. The coastal trough is expected to deepen and move south through Saturday.

Where

On Friday on the Macquarie, Hunter, Sydney and Illawarra coasts, seas will be 3 metres, with 3 metre mixed southerly and easterly swells.

On Saturday, on the Hunter, Sydney, Illawarra, Batemans and Eden coasts, seas will be 3 metres, with 3 metre mixed southerly and easterly swells.

On Sunday, on the Eden coast, seas will be 1.5 metres, with 3 metre mixed southerly and north-easterly swells.

BOM is warning that on all these waters conditions are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as crossing bars by boat and rock fishing.

Swell period

Swell period will be short, just 6 to 10 seconds.
