Burnham Week 2019 - Day 4

Again, sunshine, good Easterly breezes and fantastic courses best describe day 4 of Burnham Week 2019. The haze meant visibility was short and at times murky, but this didn't detract at all from a great day.
Class 1 was down to three starters today, with Eclipse moving class, and Skullduggery not starting today. From the start, Intense, the highest rated led on the water, with Jackal next and lowest rated Jeannie following. Jeannie, John Saunders' Elan 31 won by a minute and a half from Digger Harden, Richard Oram and Mike Schneidau in Jackal with Lizzie Brown's Intense 11 seconds off Jackal.
Class 5 saw Eclipse join, while Richard Moore in Ophelia moved to Class 6 no spinnakers, being only two up, as did Dan Tribe in Traigh. The fleet enjoyed good racing, with Clive Cherry and Daryl Mylroie in Eclipse working their way up through the fleet a little more om each leg of the course. Grace and Danger won with Eclipse second and Spring Chicken third.
The two 707s raced alongside Class 5, with Tony Hall in Cezanne keeping the lead throughout.
Class 6 saw Richard Moore leading, with Traigh very close behind and Spangle also in close contention throughout the early stages. As the race progressed the fleet became a little more spread out.
The Dragon fleet, always hotly contested, was won today by Chip Cole in Anarchy, with Dmitri Bondarenka in Johanne second and Robert Campbell in Quicksilver VI third.
In the Squib fleet, David and Nikki Mellard in Electra led and rounded the windward mark first, before setting their kite and heading up river. After the next beat and run, at rounding Redward, Phil and Marion Aspinall in Guy Fawkes had a good lead on the next pack, with Robert Coyle in Humphrey next to round. Malcolm and Jackie Hutchins in Lady Penelope and Mickey Wright and Alex Porteous in Spoof had moved right up through the fleet and into contention. Humphrey won, with Guy Fawkes second, Lady Penelope third. Electra finished 8th.
In the RBOD fleet, the dark blue Blue Jacket owned by Jonathan Beckett led and went from Pinto up to Horse Shoal towards the South Shore. Red Jacket and others went for the North shore for the run, before reaching across to Horse Shoal. By the end of the windward leeward course, Blue Jacket won, with Ariel, Phil Plumtree, second and Red Jacket sailed by Stephen Herring third.
Corinna was leading the RCODS at the windward mark, but needed to let his sails flap and let the ebb take him down to lay the mark. Once round, he headed back up river quickly under spinnaker, closely followed by Will Wallis in Coram and Cormorant. By the finish, Cormorant, Justin Waples, had got into second ahead of Coram.
