Unexpected heavy rain in the Tararua Ranges

by Wellington Fish & Game on 31 Oct 2013

During the last few hours, some unexpected heavy rain has fallen in the Tararua Ranges and as a result several rivers are now in flood.

The Hutt River is in major flood and will now be unfishable until next week provided the weather clears. Stay clear of the river until levels subside. Some roads may also be temporarily closed.

The Kapiti Coast rivers are also in flood however levels appear to be stable or dropping and maybe fishable late in the coming weekend.

It is possible that the Wairarapa Rivers will be influenced by the sudden downpour and river levels may rise over night.

Please check all river levels before you go out - It is unlikley that any fishing will be taking place until later in the weekend.
