Fishing Party welcomes support of industry peak bodies

Chairman of the Australian Fishing & Lifestyle Party, Alex Witten has enthusiastically welcomed initiatives by a coalition of fishing and boating industries peak bodies that have joined-together to engage pro-actively in national political debate ahead of the looming federal election.

Launching their combined campaign at the weekend's Sydney Boat Show, the Australian Fishing Tackle Association,
the Boating Industry Alliance of Australia and the Australian Recreational Fishing Foundation, the group barnstormed
the nation's media with the advice that '5 Million Australians Fish, Boat and Vote' - A timely reminder to all politicians and candidates, given that the federal poll is only weeks away.

Mr Witten said he was delighted that the peak bodies group had chosen - and improved on - the original Fishing Party
campaign slogan, created by his party nine years ago: 'I Fish & I Vote'.

The group's new version, 'I Fish, I Boat & I Vote' is a timely update according to Alex - as many boat owners use their craft for pleasure purposes other than fishing, such as water-skiing and simply cruising lakes, rivers, bays and the open sea.

Boating Industries Alliance Australia Chairman Darren Vaux says 'We must ensure that our politicians really understand the important economic, social and environmental benefits that fishing and boating brings to Australia.'

Australian Recreational Fishing Foundation Managing Director Allan Hansard adds 'All Australians and all of Australia benefit from a successful fishing and boating sector. 'I Fish, I Boat and I Vote' sets out a policy platform which will provide for a secure future for us all.'

Mr Witten stressed that 'It was wonderful that the three major organisations representing so many aspects of the overall industry have joined forces. It's a superb initiative and I join with Darren Vaux, Allan Hansard and the other
industry leaders involved in urging all fishers and boaters to join the campaign to make our collective voice heard
and heeded in Canberra.'

The Australian Fishing & Lifestyle Party is offering senate candidates in all Australian states and Alex Witten reports that every candidate is thrilled with the group initiative.
