Exclusive use aquatic licence granted for Richmond River
by Penny Robins on 5 Oct 2012
An exclusive use aquatic licence has been granted by Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) for the safe staging of aquatic displays and fireworks on the Richmond River at Woodburn on Saturday.
Maritime North Coast Regional Manager James Green said boaters should keep clear of the Richmond River in Woodburn from the Road Bridge crossing downstream for about 600 metres adjacent to Kent Street between 9am and 10pm.
'This area will be used exclusively for the safe staging of aquatic displays and fireworks organised by the Woodburn Chamber of Commerce,' Mr Green said.
'For safety reasons, skippers should avoid this area as it will be restricted for the event and patrolled by control vessels.'
Mr Green said vessels would not be permitted to enter the exclusive use area unless authorised by a boating safety officer or a police officer.
