Marine Auctions will be hosting its next on-site auction at Runaway Bay marina on Queensland's Gold Coast, Sunday 26 May, coinciding with the 2013 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show. And preliminary enquiries indicate, consumer sentiment is looking up.

Director, Adrian Seiffert says phone and email enquiries have been strong, with a lot of positive buzz about boat buying in coming weeks. 'We have some potential clients who are coming to the auction on the 26th and then will head off to Sanctuary Cove for the boat show. There's a distinct rise in enquiry lately, indicating people have already responded to the fall in interest rates and are positive in the lead up to the election in September.'

Up for auction at Runaway Bay, 26 May, is a 'great range of big boats', including a 2007 Scimitar Flybridge with Twin Stations, an ocean-going catamaran with very good fuel ef?ciency; a 1986 Gulfstar 54 sailing cruiser, 'Owls Nest'; 1995 Vitech 73, 'Impetuous' and more.

In addition, Marine Auctions will have several boats on display at Sanctuary Cove Boat Show: a 65ft Pilothouse Cutter 'Enya', that has had more than $500,000 in upgrades spent on it in the past 12 months, a 55ft Williams catamaran and a Noble aluminium boat, which Adrian says have been selling like hot cakes.

'We are the exclusive agents for Noble Boats. In the past 10 months, we've sold 50 of them. They are versatile, stable, very well priced and we can't keep up with demand. The Noble 5m sells with trailer for $15-20,000 and the 5.8m sells for around $25-30,000. On Sunday 26 May at Runaway Bay there will be around seven for auction and some of them with no reserve.'

Another positive sign for people in the market for a new or pre-loved boat is that many lenders are offering finance on boats, something that hasn't happened for a long time. 'If that's not a sign of great prices and value for money, I don't know what is,' says Adrian.

They could be local, from nearby or way farther afield and it is definitely not a sense of the macabre that draws them in. Rather, it is fascination and wonder, because for the sweeping majority, this is as close as they will ever get to Mother Nature’s marvels of the deep.

Pantaenius Insurance – How good does it get?
Insurance may not be the buzzword. There is not unobtanium for keels, spinach enhanced sails or vibranium fuel cells Insurance may not be the buzzword. There is not unobtanium for keels, spinach enhanced sails or hulls of cut diamond and vibranium fuel cells powering arc reactors to rave on about. No. It is numbers, facts, risk and documentation. Boring? No. Quite the contrary if you happen to have put your boat up on a reef or Hughie blows it off its mooring, smashes her through everything in sight...
